2025 Snowflake Authentication Methods Explo Changes

Last updated: March 25, 2025

Snowflake is making updates in 2025 around the authentication methods that they will support going forward to connect to services such as Explo.

Our team is actively managing and working on supporting new connections methods that Snowflake will require over the next couple of months.

Available Authentication Methods

Currently, our product supports password-based authentication with Snowflake. When configuring Snowflake user types, you can use the LEGACY_SERVICE type, which allows password authentication without requiring multi-factor authentication (MFA).

While LEGACY_SERVICE type is a temporary solution, it remains functional for establishing connections to Snowflake.

Alternative Authentication Methods

At this time, key-pair authentication (SSH), SAML/Oauth integration is not supported.

Password authentication through LEGACY_SERVICE type remains the recommended approach for connecting to Snowflake through our product.
